Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive correlation study was to identify the relationship between health promotion behavior and health problem complaints, and general characteristics for 260 freshmen in Red Cross College of Nursing.
The tool used for the study was a structured questionnare which consisted of 5 items related to gereral characteristics, 60 items on health promotion lifestyle profile and 57 items on health problem complaints.
The collected data was analyzed using SPSS, yielding frequencies, percentiles, means, standard deviations, ANOVA, pearson Correlation Coefficient, cronbach¢¥s alpha.
The results of this study are as f allows.
1. The mean score of performance of the health promotion behavior was 172.4 comparing of the order of the scores among 60 subscales of the health promotion behavior, the highest score was for control of drinking, drug use, smoking, saf ty, medical consumer and exercise in that order.
2. The mean score of health complaints was 19.06. Comparing of the order of the scores among 57 subscales of the health complaints the highest score was nervous system, fatigue,adapt inadequency, family history, and musculoskeletal and respiratory system in that order.
3. Significant correlation betoween health promotion behavior and health problem complaints was negatively correlated.
On the basis of the results of this study, the future direction of related research should (include) other variables. Nursing colleges should make an effort to develop and carry out various health education programs for the health promotion.
